The 52 SUPER SERIES fleet is looking forwards to welcoming the accomplished Italian team Vitamina Sailing who will race their Botin designed TP52 Alkedo powered by Vitamina. The boat raced most recently as Interlodge but previously won the circuit as Azzurra.
Alkedo powered by Vitamina will be steered by team founder, Andrea Lacorte, whose tactician will be the hugely experienced US based Kiwi Cameron Appleton who sailed on the boat as Interlodge. He will be supported by Portuguese strategist Alvaro Marinho, a four times Olympian.
Other team members include Vitamina’s Team Manager Matteo De Luca (bowman), Nicolò Sanfelici (navigator), Alberto Bolzan (trimmer), Stefano Ciampalini and Dave Armitage (trimmers), Massimo Gherarducci and Chris Brittle (grinders), Giovanni Bucarelli (assistant bowman), Arancia Malaspina (floater), Luke Molloy (runner), and Pablo Torrado (rigger).
The world’s leading grand prix monohull circuit is relishing the return of an Italian flagged team for the first time since four times champions Azzurra finished on the top of the 2019 rankings.
“The racing season ahead is a new challenge at the highest level, complex but at the same time extremely exciting” says helmsman Andrea Lacorte. “The 52 SUPER SERIES is a top-tier circuit in every way, with crews who have been racing there for over 10 years, while we, in this specific context, are rookies, and we know very well that this year we will have to work hard, keeping our heads down and focusing primarily on improving our performance, race by race.”
