Quantum Racing made the best start to Race 5 of the Odzala Discovery Camps 52 SUPER SERIES V&A Waterfront – Cape Town and went on to record their first race win since Puerto Portals last year. Ed Baird and the US-flagged team hit the start line with pace and were able to lead Platoon around the top mark, going on to win ahead of world champions, Platoon. Racing in a light, oscillating NW’ly breeze and flat water, the French team on Paprec finished a credible fourth. With Azzurra in fifth and Phoenix 11 eighth, the Italian-flagged team of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda lead the regatta by five points from Phoenix 11.
