On the eve of the final regatta of the 2018 52 SUPER SERIES, the circuit’s sailors will remember their good friend, Olympic Gold Medallist, America’s Cup Sailor and TP52 Team Origin strategist, Andrew Simpson, on Sunday morning, 16th September, with what will be known as the “TP52 Valencia Bart’s Bash-Tri”. A short, sharp, inter-boat kayak and SUP relay contest preluding to participation in the the official Bart’s Bash global race, due to start at 14:00 CEST on Sunday afternoon. Over post-race drinks there will be a pub quiz covering three themes: sport, sailing history and sustainability.
Lars Böcking, Director of Marketing and Communications said:
“We aim to turn our attention from the final drive and focus of the upcoming 52 SUPER SERIES event to remember Bart, certainly to recall the good times we all enjoyed in Bart’s company on and off the water and have a bit of fun before it all gets serious.”
Rob Weiland, TP52 Class Manager adds:
“With this being the fifth anniversary of Andrew’s untimely death, being in Valencia where he spent a period of time with +39, and being joined by his friend Iain Percy – who will race as tactician on Gladiator for the final event of the 2018 52 SUPER SERIES, I expect all 11 TP52s in Valencia to join Sunday’s race and fun activities as well as to chip in generously towards the Andrew Simpson Foundation.”
