Luna Rossa won the third race of the 52 SUPER SERIES Valencia Sailing Week to now share the regatta lead with Azzurra, which finished third. Both share the aggregate of eight points after three races while Platoon, which staged another amazing recovery after being over the start line, came back to fourth to lie third overall on nine points.
Robert Scheidt, the Onda tactician, stuck with his game plan to work the right side of the upwind and the Brazilian team led all the way until midway up the second beat when Luna Rossa got through them to lead down the final run.
Luna Rossa held out to win with Onda second, but there was an incredibly close finish between Azzurra and Platoon, the Italian-Argentine team getting the verdict to still have a share of the regatta lead but now alongside Luna Rossa, winners of the Zadar Royal Cup.
