While Vladimir Liubomirov’s Bronenosec came back on the final run to win Race 2, a second place for Harm Müller-Spreer’s Platoon crew sees them reduce their deficit on the overall 52 SUPER SERIES leaderboard on Azzurra and Quantum Racing.
Bronenosec – with Italy’s Francesco Bruni working with Morgan Larson in the afterguard of the Russian-flagged team – made a positive move down the last run by holding to the left in more pressure to take over the lead. Correspondingly there was a frustrating, painful loss for Quantum Racing who dropped from having a nice 250m lead round the first circuit of the two lap course to finish seventh as the breeze shut off on the right where they were.
Platoon’s second, with circuit leaders Azzurra fourth, takes the German team to within six points of the season’s leaders while Quantum Racing are now 13pts off the lead.
Regatta leaders at the Menorca 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week are Azzurra with a 1,4 scoreline ahead of Gladiator’s 2,3 on countback.
