Quantum Racing bounced back from their lacklustre second day of the Miami Royal Cup to win Race 5 of this second regatta of the 52 SUPER SERIES season.
After a long delay for the fleet on the water, waiting for a breeze to build and settle, the race got under way cleanly in five to seven knots of breeze from 115 degrees. In nice, flat water conditions Terry Hutchinson read the changing breeze best at one third of the way up the first beat, getting Quantum Racing into phase as the pressure built and lifted slightly from the left. On the approach to the top mark they played it safe and were able to lead comfortably down the first.
They led throughout. With Azzurra holding on to second their lead at the midpoint of the regatta is now 11 points over Quantum Racing and Provezza who are tied on 19 points.
