Alegre is good to go this morning after a long night in the boatyard at Olbia for their shoreteam. During a kite drop early in yesterday’s windward-leeward they broke their D2 diagonal shroud when the downline caught in the V. They had to retire immediately and take the boat to the yard where the crane was waiting to pull the rig out. Fortunately the Alegre team carry a spare set of standing rigging. By 0230hrs the boat was back at the dock wth the rig up and at 0700hrs this morning they were dock-tuning the rig. So it is all systems go for Andy Soriano’s team today although they are carrying that 13th place for their DNF.
Meantime plaudits also to the XIO Hurakan team who are lying in sixth overall, midfleet, but also carrying 13th after they lost a spreader in Race 2.
