Today’s planned practice race was cancelled early this morning by race officials owing to high mistral winds. The Sardinian climate is well known for its fiery latin temperament, and today, it has lived up to that reputation. The TP52s have remained dockside, straining, rattling and bumping into each other under 30-40 knot winds. The “day off” has meant that teams have been able to spend time fine tuning their boats, and planning their attack for Day 1 of the 2016 Audi Settimana Delle Bocche. The teams will be disappointed that they’ve not been able to size up their competitors today, but it means that tomorrow could throw up a few surprises.
The current weather forecast says that the high winds should calm down overnight, and we currently expect to have two full windward-leeward races as planned.
Join the action tomorrow, with racing due to start at 12:00 CEST.
