Azzurra won their first race of the Cascais Cup, scything across the finish line of Race 5 in more than 22kts of wind and big seas, to take a share of the overall regatta standings alongside Quantum Racing which finished fourth after starting early.
Azzurra hit the front on the first downwind, passing early leader Provezza by holding left, closer to the shore where tactician Vasco Vascotto found extra wind pressure.
The team which leads the overall season standings were able to extend in the strong conditions to win comfortably ahead of a final run duel between Provezza and Platoon.
