Two races today are scheduled to kick off the 34th Copa del Rey MAPFRE for the 52 SUPER SERIES fleet with sea breeze conditions expected starting around 10kts and building to 12-15kts. But it will be a slow build and only come in later in the day. It is particularly humid early this morning with cloud and a rain shower at dock out time.
Dalton DeVos was on impressive form on the helm of Quantum Racing winning yesterday’s practice race but today is about points on the board and regatta wins.

It seems I have won a little bit of the fight. But it was good to win the practise race race. I sailed with Terry for the first time when I was 17 but he also did the Chicago Mac race on the Windquest 86 this summer. But this is the first time on the 52 and it was awesome. The whole crew are awesom and did a great. I just need to focus on my job. I have been splitting my time between the 52, the Melges 32 and the 86 back on the Great Lakes and so sailing has been pretty much my job this summer. It has been keeping me busy. I am as sharp as I can be. Dad will steer Thursday, Friday, Saturday. I think that puts the pressure on him.

While Quantum Racing should be battling back to form, expectations are raised for the likes of Platoon and Provezza which both finished on the podium at the world championships last month in Puerto Portals, but there are a whole raft of boats racing at the same level and for sure the podium in Palma is completely open.
