On a windward leeward race course much more typical of true Palma conditions than seen so far at the 32nd Copa del Rey MAPFRE Quantum Racing won the first race of the day, holding Rán Racing in check around the track to add another point to the leader’s cushion.
With the course favoured on the left the pressure was on to gain the advantage earliest. Quantum Racing and Rán Racing established their supremacy early along with Rio which rounded the top mark in second behind Quantum Racing. Downwind Rán were able to pass and the order remained the same among the top three to the finish. The battle for third becomes even closer with Azzurra starting last and dropping points with their seventh place finish, while Rio’s third and Provezza’s fourth keep the pressure on the Italian team.
