The Azzurra team lead by skipper helm Guilermo Parada bowed to their superstitions again when they chose not to collect their win in today’s practice race for the 52 SUPER SERIES on the eve of the 40th Trofeo Vela Conde de Godo regatta starting in Barcelona.
Although British owner-driver Tony Langley and crew of Gladiator looked to have an early lead they had to make a penalty turn on the approach to the first windward mark after a rules infringement.
Quantum Racing steered by Ed Baird with tactician Terry Hutchinson, were second all the way around the windward-leeward course and so were well placed. To accept first gun when Azzurra chose to bypass the finish line.
