It could mean a change of tactics for the team, who have been competing with the stealth of being a middle-order competitor, while the likes of Quantum, Rán and Azzurra had been engaged in a match racing like fight for the podium.
But, having proven they are more than capable of winning, Calafat said the team may find themselves with a target on their backs as the final day of the Royal Cup begins today.
“We’ve been sailing very free and loose so far, this might change,’’ Calafat said. “I think we like to sail very loose, but now they (the fleet) might put more focus on us.”
All4One’s performance on day three of the four day regatta moved them into third place overall going into the final day, bumping Audi Azzurra to fourth place. Quantum Racing continue to lead, with Rán Racing in second place.
When asked if his team would work to cover Azzurra to protect their podium place Calafat gave a typical modest response. “We’re not good enough to cover anyone,’’ he said.
But his team would be working the start-line very hard; it’s where Calafat reckons his team’s chances of remaining on the podium hinge.
